Sylvie Chaperon is a history professor at the University of Toulouse le Mirail in France. She has a PhD from the European University Institute (Florence, italy) where she spent 3 years. She organized with Christine Delphy an international conference for the 50th anniversery of The Second Sex of Simone de Beauvoir (Paris, Sorbonne, January 19-23, 1999, to be published soon). She is an expert on the French women's movement in France from 1945 to 1970 and published a lot of articles and one book Les années Beauvoir, Paris, Fayard, 2000.
