Françoise Picq, Ph Doctor in Political Science, is an Assistant-professor (Maître de Conférences) at the University of Paris IX-Dauphine. She was involved in the Women's Liberation Movement, MLF, since 1970. She held many responsibilities in the developing of feminist studies in France since 1975 : She took part in the Feminist Studies Group (GEF-University of Paris 7)., organized seminaries and international conferences (Moulin d'Andé and Shaker Mill farm 1978-1982)
She was editor of several feminist journals or special issue of journals such as (Les Temps Modernes) : Penelope (for women's history, 1979-1985), Parole !, La Revue d'en face. She was one of the organiser of the first National Conference "Femmes, Feminisme, Recherche" (Toulouse, December 1982, with the support of the Research Ministry, Woman's Rights Ministry and CNRS).

Furthermore she was part of the organisation team of the International Research Conference initiated by the French mission for UNO fourth Global Conference on Women. She was one of the founder and president (now vice-president), of National Feminist Studies Association (ANEF), and was the National contact of the European Network for Women's Studies (ENWS). Her works are about anthropology and theories of Mother-right, Feminism and socialism, The origin and history of the International Women's Day, History of feminism in France and the feminist movement in the seventies.
Her main or latest publications include Libération des femmes : les Années mouvement (Editions du Seuil, 1993), Crises de la société, féminisme et changement (Conference of the GEF-Revue d'en face, 1991), "Le MLF, exception française ou modèle" in Féministes et identités nationales.
