Anna Lisa Tota, Ph.D. in Sociology and Methodology for Social Research, teaches Sociology of Communication at the Second University of Milan. Chair of the committee "Gender and generation" at the Italian Ministry for Equal Opportunities and of the Italian network of young scholars in gender studies "30something". Vice-chair of the research network "Sociology of the Arts" of the European Sociological Association. Expert Evaluator for the European Commission. Her main interests are communication, art, culture, and gender studies. Besides several articles in journals and volumes, she published: "Etnografia dell'arte. Per una sociologia dei contesti artistici" (Logica University Press, 1997); "Sociologie dell'arte. Dal museo tradizionale all'arte multimediale" (Carocci, 1999); "La memoria contesa. Studi sulla rappresentazione sociale del passato" (Angeli, 2000 - forthcoming).
