THERESA KERRY E MARTHA FOX, DESTINI INCROCIATI

Il ruolo delle donne nelle campagne elettorali assume un'importanza sempre maggiore in quanto strumento di marketing pubblicitario subdolo.
Hilary Clinton ha svolto un peso non indifferente nella campagna elettorale del marito. Laura Bush, attuale first lady degli Stati Uniti, ha contribuito a creare nell'immaginario collettivo il simbolo della donna defilata, modesta, tranquilla e servizievole.

Theresa statisticamente parlando, ha sempre avuto un debole per i politici. Nata in Mozambico, parla fluentemente cinque lingue fra cui anche l'italiano. Ha studiato in Sudafrica ed in Switzerland per poi trasferirsi negli Usa per lavorare alle Nazioni Unite. Nel 1966 sposa il re del ketchup americano nonché senatore repubblicano, John Heinz dal quale ha avuto tre figli.

Pochi giorni dopo aver celebrato i venticinque di matrimonio, John Heinz muore in un incidente aereo. Era il 1991. Inizia in quel momento il ruolo "sociale" di Theresa poiché dopo la morte del marito, la famiglia Heinz decise di costituire una fondazione filantropica e la Signora Heinz ne divenne amministratrice unica. Theresa è sempre stata coinvolta nella lotta per i diritti umani, i diritti delle donne ma in modo particolare nelle questione ambientaliste.
Proprio a seguito del suo interesse per i temi ambientali, nel 1992 conobbe il suo attuale marito John Kerry. Entrambi erano a Rio de Janeiro per il summit mondiale della terra. Kerry rappresentava il Governo di Clinton mentre Theresa le Ong statunitensi ambientaliste. In realtà la Signora Heinz e Kerry si erano già incontrati precedentemente; John infatti era amico intimo del senatore Heinz. John Kerry aveva divorziato dalla moglie nel 1988 ed il nuovo incontro con Theresa a Rio de Janeiro si trasformò in una vacanza romantica.
Si sposarono soltanto nel 1995 alla presenza dei loro cinque figli, tre di lei e due di lui.
La possibile futura first lady è descritta da tutti come una persona semplice, anche troppo. All'inizio non era entusiasta della candidatura presidenziale del marito ma in seguito ha cambiato idea. Veste sempre in jeans ed ama abiti comodi così come gli ambienti informali. Dal momento che John Kerry ha deciso di candidarsi per le presidenziali, sono iniziate le malelingue sul vero ruolo sociale di Theresa. La Signora Kerry ha ereditato dal suo primo marito un patrimonio personale che si aggira attorno ai 500 milioni di dollari e gestisce le tre fondazioni che si occupano dello sviluppo di strategie ambientali, diffondere l'educazione dei bambini nei paesi poveri e promuovere l'arte. Le tre fondazioni Heinz hanno un giro d'affari di ben 1,24 miliardi di dollari. A qualcuno è sorto il dubbio che Theresa abbia contribuito finanziariamente alla campagna elettorale del marito. John Kerry ha sempre dichiarato di non ricevere alcun finanziamento dalla consorte ed inoltre la legge americana vieta contributi personali superiori ai 2000 dollari. Fin qui le versioni ufficiali ma secondo gli analisti politici la fondazione Heinz avrebbe finanziato notevolmente (ed in questo ultimo periodo) gruppi ecologisti che a sua volta avrebbero sostenuto la campagna di Kerry. Finanziamento indiretto dunque. Da dove provengono le enormi ricchezze delle tre fondazioni? Theresa afferma che la privacy le impedisce di diffondere i nominativi. Quale sia la verità nessuno è in grado di dirlo però il sistema politico americano funziona così. Non esistono finanziamenti pubblici ai partiti come in Italia ed ognuno deve arrangiarsi come può. Anche se la legge americana vieta contributi privati eccessivi, chi impedisce a Kerry di usare l'aereo privato della moglie per i suoi spostamenti? Ma dopotutto se le lobbies che appoggiano il senatore Kerry fossero gruppi ecologisti, sarebbe sempre meglio dei petrolieri che sostengono Bush se non altro per le pretese politiche che possono esercitare. Rimane però il dubbio sulla personalità di Theresa, vera attivista ambientalista od opportunista ed arrivista? La Signora Kerry ha affermato che se dovesse diventare first lady non lascerà l'incarico di presiedere le fondazioni Heinz in quanto non individua alcun conflitto di interessi. La legge certo non lo impedisce ma i sospetti sul vero ruolo che giocano queste attività sociali nella politica rimangono. Non a caso una vicenda simile ha coinvolto l'attuale first lady messicana, Martha Sahagun in Fox, moglie del Presidente Vicente Fox.

Martha, 52 anni, era l'addetta stampa di Viciente fin dal 1995. Figlia di un fisico messicano, si sposò all'età di 17 anni e per vent'anni è stata casalinga e madre di tre figli fino a quando non ha sentito il bisogno di emergere nella società machista messicana.

Si iscrisse così nel Partito di Azione Nazionale (PAN) per candidarsi a sindaco. Nonostante la carriera politica non promettesse bene, riuscì nel farsi notare dal senatore Viciente Fox che la volle nel suo staff. Il 2 luglio del 2000 Viciente è diventato Presidente del Messico e Martha è stata uno strumento di marketing pubblicitario importante. Bella presenza, simile ad una barbie, sempre vicina al marito, Vicente e Martha rappresentano la "perfezione" nell'ideale collettivo ma certamente non rispecchiano la vera società messicana. Un recente studio sul marketing pubblicitario messicano ha evidenziato che negli spot televisivi e nei manifesti elettorali, sono sempre ritratte persone bianche e mai meticce come è costituita la maggior parte della popolazione messicana. Forse anche questo è un messaggio politico indiretto ovvero non voler risolvere ad esempio i problemi che affliggono gli indigeni del Chiapas. Fox, prima di diventare Presidente, era direttore della Coca Cola in Messico e l'azienda americana ha finanziato la sua campagna elettorale. Viciente rappresenta le oligarchie del potere economico, delle multinazionali e dei grandi proprietari terrieri. Può sembrare un discorso retorico ma la finanza internazionale svolge un ruolo decisivo nelle scelte politiche soprattutto se il paese in questione è in via di sviluppo. La recente vicenda di Sonia Ghandi in India ne è un esempio. La coalizione di Sonia, appoggiata anche da forze di estrema sinistra, ha sorpreso tutti vincendo le elezioni politiche indiane. Non appena la Signora Ghandi ha annunciato di diventare primo ministro, la borsa di Calcutta è crollata. Il motivo? Nel suo programma l'intenzione di bloccare le privatizzazioni selvagge avviate dal precedente governo. Ufficialmente Sonia si è ritirata per motivi personali ma non a caso quando è stato nominato primo ministro Singh, le borse sono riprese. Singh è l'uomo delle privatizzazioni e dei forti interessi economici internazionali in India. Allo stesso modo Fox non poteva non essere eletto e nel cercare consensi anche fra la popolazione ha usato l'immagine della moglie. Martha come Theresa è la direttrice della fondazione benefica "Vamos Mexico" che aiuta gli emarginati dalla società messicana. Sul fatto che la fondazione svolga un ruolo più politico che sociale non vi è alcun dubbio. Le televisioni messicane hanno documentato un viaggio di Martha Fox nel centro Messico per far visita ad un piccolo villaggio sperduto sulle montagne. La first lady ha regalato due biciclette a due bambine. I giornalisti hanno filmato gli occhi felici dei ragazzi che se ne andavano contenti pedalando. Peccato che non abbiano registrato anche la scena successiva quanto le ruote delle biciclette si sono forate e ripararle in quella zona è molto difficile. E' questo l'aiuto della fondazione "Vamos Mexico"? Mi auguro di no, avranno anche realizzato validi progetti però a mio avviso è la conferma di come le associazioni benefiche abbiano significati subdoli. In questo modo Vicente è diventato Presidente del Messico con larghi consensi ma in quattro anni di governo non è riuscito a realizzare nessuno dei suoi progetti politici.

Le questioni sul tavolo da risolvere erano la riforma agraria per aiutare i contadini del Chiapas ad aver diritto alla loro terra. Ovviamente se da una parte Viciente doveva rispondere alle promesse formulate ai contadini, dall'altra doveva garantire i proprietari terrieri e le multinazionali che stavano investendo cospicui capitali in Messico. Se è vera la legge che dice "chi più paga più comanda", è facile capire come mai la questione del Chiapas rimanga un problema irrisolto. Altro punto fondamentale del programma Fox era l'aiuto ai cittadini messicani che vivono in Usa. Grazie ai soldi che inviano in patria, costituiscono la seconda entrata monetaria del Paese dopo il petrolio. Fox si era fatto portavoce dei diritti civili e legali dei messicani residenti all'estero. L'11 settembre ha reso vani gli sforzi del Presidente messicano ed anzi, i controlli alla frontiera sono stati intensificati. Probabilmente i messicani in Usa potrebbero comunque ottenere dei vantaggi e non grazie a Fox ma a Bush. Il Presidente americano in cerca di consensi, si è espresso possibilista nel riconoscere maggiori diritti ai messicani residenti negli Stati Uniti. Bush deve anche tener presente che ha bisogno della forza lavoro messicana ma non solo. Gli Usa necessitano del Messico e del suo appoggio per la realizzazione dell'Alca, l'area di libero scambia che riguarderà tutto il sudamerica. Nel 1994 è entrato in vigore il Nafta, una sorta di prova generale di quello che dovrebbe essere l'Alca. Il Nafta è l'area di libero scambio fra Usa e Messico. L'idea doveva servire a sostenere l'economia messicana da una parte e garantire prospettive di sviluppo per le aziende americane che avrebbero investito in Messico. A distanza di dieci anni possiamo affermare che i vantaggi li hanno avuti solo le aziende americane poiché i lavoratori messicani delle "maquilladoras" hanno certamente trovato lavoro ma a condizioni proibitive. Ne è la conferma il continuo ed inarrestabile esodo verso gli Usa in cerca di prospettive migliori. Gli Stati Uniti di Bush vedono nell'Alca l'unica soluzione possibile per contrastare il ruolo economico sempre più pressante che sta assumendo l'Asia, la Cina in modo particolare. La concorrenza asiatica è sempre più agguerrita ed agli Stati Uniti non basta più solo il Messico come serbatoio di manodopera a basso costo. E' un gioco al ribasso ed a farne le spese saranno i lavoratori sudamericani. Purtroppo è questa la legge della globalizzazione senza regole. Nel 2006 scade il mandato del Presidente Fox e Martha ha già affermato la volontà di volersi candidare. Nei prossimi mesi Martha e Theresa potrebbero trovarsi spesso insieme magari per parlare delle loro fondazioni o del rapporto fra i loro paesi. Martha fino ad oggi ha usato la sua fondazione soprattutto per rinsaldare l'immagine in declino di suo marito. Sarà interessante vedere se Theresa Heinz Kerry, una volta first lady, seguirà le orme di Martha oppure confermerà tutto lo spirito umanitario che afferma di avere, libera da interessi politici.

Hilary Clinton has developed a non indifferent importance in the electoral campaign of her husband. Laura Bush, actual first lady of the United States, has contributed to create in the imaginary collective the symbol of the woman, modest, calm and helpful.

Every morning Laura reads the newspapers and reassumes the contents of it to Gorge W. Bush that doesn't love to read. Hilary and Laura have characters clearly contrasted. On them a plentiful bibliography exists and therefore I prefer not to subsequently detain me. Who could be instead the future first lady of the United States since the recent surveys damage lost Bush to the next elections of November? Theresa Heinz Kerry. We see to discover who is the wife of the candidate is presidential democrat John Forbes Kerry accredited by the surveys to be the next president of the United States.

Theresa statistically speaking, she has always had a weak for the political ones. Been born in Mozambique, she flowingly speaks five languages among which also Italian. To the beginning she was not enthusiastic of the presidential candidacy of her husband but subsequently she has changed mind. She always dresses in jeans and she loves comfortable suits as the informal environments. From the moment that John Kerry has decided to run for the presidential ones, started some doubts on the true social role of Theresa. Mrs. Kerry has inherited from her first husband a personal patrimony that wanders around the 500 million of dollars and she manages the three foundations that deal him with the development of environmental strategies, to spread the education of children in the poor countries and to promote the art. Her three foundations Heinz have business of ll 1,24 billion dollars. To someone the doubt that Theresa has financially contributed to the electoral campaign of her husband has risen. John Kerry has always declared not to receive some financing from the consort and besides the american law obsolete superior personal contributions to the 2000 dollars. Until here the official versions but according to the political analysts the foundation Heinz would have financed notably (and in this last period) groups ecologists that in turn they would have sustained Kerry. What truth is anybody it is able to say however the american political system works this way. Public financings to the parties don't exist as in Italy and each it has to get by as it is able. Even if the law American obsolete contributions deprived excessive, who prevents Kerry to use the private airplane of her wife for his moves? But if the lobby that support the senator Kerry were groups ecologists, it would always be better than the petrolieris that sustain Bush if nothing else for the political pretensions that can practice. Does the doubt remain on however the personality of Theresa, true environmental activist or opportunist ? Mrs. Kerry has affirmed that she had to become first lady she won't leave the charge to preside the foundations Heinz in how much it doesn't individualize some conflict of affairs. The law doesn't prevent this but the suspects on the true role that these social activities play in the politics remain. A similar story has not by chance involved the actual first Mexican lady, Martha Sahagun in Fox, the President's wife Vicente Fox.

Despite the political career didn't promise well, she succeeded in to let from the senator Vicente Fox to be noticed that he wanted her in his staff. The 2 July of the 2000 Vicente has become President of Mexico and Martha she has been a tool of important advertising marketing. Beautiful presence, similar to a barbie, always near to her husband, Viciente and Martha they represent "perfection" in the collective ideal but they don't certainly mirror the true Mexican society. A recent study on the Mexican advertising marketing has underlined that in the television spots and in the electoral manifestos, white people are withdrawn and never meticce as the most greater part of the Mexican population is always constituted. Perhaps also this is an indirect political message , don't want to for instance resolve the problems that torment the native of the Chiapas. Fox, before becoming President, he was manager of the Coca Cola in Mexico and the american firm it has financed his electoral campaign. Viciente represents the oligarchies of the economic power of the multinationals and of the great land owners. It can seem a rhetorical discourse but the international finance it develops above all a decisive role in the political choices if the country in matter is developing. The recent story of Sonia Ghandi in India is an example of it. The coalition of Sonia, also supported by strengths of extreme left (comunist), she has surprised all winning the Indian political elections. Not as soon as her Mrs. Ghandi has announced to become Prime Minister, the stock exchange of Calcutta has collapsed. The reason? In her program the intention to stop the wild privatizations started by the precedent government. Officially Sonia is withdrawn for personal motives but not by chance when Prime Minister Singh has been named, the stock exchange are grown.Singh is the man of the privatizations and the strong international economic affairs in India. Equally Fox "must" be chosen and he used imagine wife to win. Martha as Theresa are the manager of the beneficent foundation "Vamos Mexico" that it helps the outcasts from the Mexican society. On the fact that the foundation develops a role more political than social there is no doubt. The Mexican televisions have documented a trip of Martha Fox in the center Mexico to make visit to a small lost village on the mountains. The first lady has given two bicycles to two children. The journalists have filmed the happy eyes of the boys that went happy pedaling. Sinned that has not recorded as also the following scene, the wheels of the bicycles they are perforated and to mend it in that zone is very difficult. Is this the help of the foundation "Vamos Mexico"? I hope no, l they will also have realized valid projects, however to my notice it is the confirmation of as the beneficent associations has meant deceitful. The matters on the table to be resolved were the agrarian reform to help the farmers of the Chiapas to have their earth.

Obviously if on one side Viciente had to answer to the formulated promises to the farmers, from the other one he had to guarantee the land owners and the multinationals that were investing conspicuous capitals in Mexico. If the "law" is true that says "who more pay more commands", it is easy to understand how come the matter of the Chiapas remains a problem. Other fundamental point of the program Fox was the help to the Mexican citizens that live in Usa. Thanks to the money that mexican send in country, they constitute the second monetary entrance of the Country after the oil. Fox was made spokesman of the civil rights and legal of the resident Mexicans to the foreign countries. On September 11 has made the efforts of the Mexican President vain and rather, the controls to the frontier have been intensified. The Mexicans in Usa could probably get however some advantages and not thanks to Fox but to Bush. The american President looking for consents, says it could be possible to recognize rights to the resident Mexicans in the United States. Bush needs the Mexican work force but not only. Usa requires of Mexico and of its support for the realization of the Alca, the area of free exchanges that it will concern the whole south america. In 1994 it has gone into effect the Nafta, a sort of general test of that that should be the Alca. The Nafta is the area of free exchange between Usa and Mexico. Idea had to serve to sustain the Mexican economy on one side and to guarantee perspectives of development for the American firms that would have invested in Mexico. To ten year-old distance we can affirm that only american firms got advantages and workers of the "maquilladoras" have certainly found job but to prohibitive conditions. To confirm this, the continuous and unstoppable exodus toward the Usa looking for best perspectives. The United States of Bush sees in the Alca the only possible solution for to oppose more and more the pressing economic role that is assuming Asia, China in particular way. The Asian competition is trained more and more and to the United States it is not enough alone Mexico as reservoir of lower part manpower cost. Unfortunately it is this the law of the globalization without rules. In 2006 the President's order Fox and Martha has already affirmed the wish to want become next president. In the next months Martha and Theresa could be even together often for speaking of their foundations or of the relationship among their countries. Martha used her foundation to consolidate the image in decline of her husband. It will be interesting to see if Theresa Heinz Kerry, once first lady, will follow the tracks of Martha or she will confirm the whole humanitarian spirit that she affirms to have, free from political affairs.
