WORLD WOMEN MARCH

Women Feast is just concluded, on March 8 in fact it remembers the sad day 1908 in New York when died 129 workers who were striking to protest against the terrible conditions of job to which they were submitted. That day the owner closed the doors of the factory to prevent the workers to go out, subsequently the fire and the tragedy will arrive in an instant.

Today, to almost one hundred years from that sad date, the movements, the feminist associations in the world are multiplied and they fight every day for the female claims.
Thousand of organizations of this type have stuck to a project brought ahead by a group of women of Quebec in Canada, that has given life to the World March of the Women in 2000.
The Idea was born in 1995 to U.N. Conference on the Women held in Peking. The activists of the Federation of the Women of Quebec have tried to constitute a world net of sensitization and action against the violences and the poverty.
It can seem strange that such initiative was born in a "civil" country as Canada, but the appearance hides another reality: every day in Quebec 300 women suffer sexual violences. Every week a woman is murdered by a parents. Every year more than 110000 women of over 15 years they suffer aggressions.
The Federation of the Women of Quebec, constituted in 1966, has gotten numerous successes as the struggle for the access to the free abortion, the creation of groups and services involved in the improvement of the conditions of life of the women and in recent times, the world march of the women against the poverty.
Just the poverty is the hostile number one in how much it means ignorance and lack of education that prevent the defenseless women to take conscience of their own rights and to make to be worth them.
With the creation of a world net the objective is ambitious to coordinate a global movement for the rights of the women.
A lot of organizations in the world have already stuck with good results.
In Brazil the rural women are gathered in the march of the "margaridas". Margaridas Alves was a syndicalist that August 12 th 1983 was murdered on order by land owner. In 2000 in Brasilia was organized the greatest demonstration of women of the country , the march of the "margaridas" , for an equitable agrarian reform and to guarantee to the women the possession of the earth.
It belongs to the World March of the Women, the Sofa (Solidarité Fanm Ayisema) to Haiti that fights against the violence on the women in a country where the rape is broadly used to repress, where the law foresees the jail for the adulterine women while a simple fine for men, a country where only the hospital of Port au Prince has the legal right to release a medical certificate of essential rape to get justice.
In Africa, in Burkina Faso, the social organization leaves little space to the women, for this in 1995 the ADEP has been founded (Association of appuì et of évil pugsada) with the objective to inform the women on their rights, on the sexually transmissible illnesses, to fight the "infibulation" and the imposed marriages trying to involve daughters' parents. Unfortunately drastic changes of the society are unthinkable but small signals they seem to arrive: the President of Burkina Faso, Blaise Campaoré, has done more than 200 kms to meet a group of women declaring that the African society has to reserve greater attention to the female universe.
In Argentina the "piqueteras" they frequent every day the roads in Buenos Aires and the Plaza de Mayo together with the mothers of the "desaparesidos". A lot of they are women ex workers that have lost the job following the worse economic crisis that Argentina has ever crossed. These women mobilize the plaza to make to hear their voice their cry of desperation. In the movements of the unemployed the women's proportion in Argentina has reached 65%.
In Philippines female organizations protest against the wild globalization, "Gabriela" it is one of these. It takes the name from Gabriela Silang who conducted a revolt in the XVIII century against the Spanish colonialism. Today the enemy is the indiscriminate capitalism.
The industry of the attire in Philippines employs a lot of women but the situation is changing because the Philippine workers are more expensive than the Chinese workers who are underpayed and the multinationals are leaving the country.
Also the European continent is not exempt from struggles to vindicate the social equality of the women: in Turkey it is recent history the reform of the Civil Code. Women's groups activists have conducted a battle for the parity of the rights, for instance up to 1990 for a woman permission of herr husband was necessary to being able to work.
It remains a lot to do and the contribution of these women will be fundamental for the affirmation of a more equitable society. The World March of the Women is everything this, it is a global struggle to which all can stick.
Don't have a leader ; a common program doesn't exist because the divergences inside the movement exist, you are enough to think about the discussions in Italy on the women soldier in the army or on the possible legalization of the whorehouses.
What is important is to put together a lot of plans to coordinate the efforts and being of the valid interlocutors with the institutions of every country.
Einstein wrote "the world is that disaster that you see, not so much for the troubles combined by the malefactors, but for the inactivity of the correct ones that they realize and they are to look there."
