L’Orlando Women's Association and the partners of the project
School of Politics "Hannah Arendt"

inform that the first international seminar

Antigone in the town:
emotions and politics

will be held on 22nd -24th of March 1998
Bologna - Sala dei Notai - Via de' Pignattari 1

A few decades after the second wave of feminism, at a time which has been defined as postfeminism, in the Nineties we are now faced with a generalised presence of gender issues both in one’s private life and in the media.
At the same time we have acquired both a theoretical and practical knowledge and awareness of feminism and of many women. However, this does not mean that women are easily and widely recognised, or that gender or feminist visions or viewpoints are taken to interpret society changes. Yet nobody would deny that changes in gender relationships and in gender identities have become really widespread.

The School of Politics "Hannah Arendt" is intended to interpret and support all those personal and social changes that different (not just Marxist or liberal, but even postmodern) traditions cannot justify. Therefore the first seminar is aimed at focusing on those feelings and conceptions which have been (apparently) excluded from the political sphere, but constitute the matrix of action and thought of the Orlando Association and many women's and feminists' initiatives.

This first seminar intends to be an occasion to verify the hypothesis underlying our work and evaluate, together with our interlocutors, the scope, targets and themes of the School of Politics. We invite you to present your experience and reflections.
