The aim is to compare the institutionals practices of Women's Studies across the European countries, in consultation with both teachers and policy makers,and through video conference-link with prominent women in politics in some of the other European Capitals of Culture for 2000 (names to be annuounced).

Aims: to present and discuss some of the cases of 'best practice' in the management and the administration of women's studies research and training programmes in different European countries. The reference point is double: on the one and the work of the Advisory Board of experts in women's studies of the ATHENA network. On the other hand the work accomplished by the former Ministry for equal oportunities of the host country of the conference, Italy.
